Yatta!

Well , obviously, everything is compleatly different. Besides the cosmetic changes, there are new videos, a revised mission statement, and (most exciting for me) the grand release of Artist Autist; The Dark Origins of the Bikini Artist. and Pilgrimage, it's followup. There is also an option for purchasing all three available comics, if you are looking to save some cash. If you are here at this point, it certainly isn't because I told you to come-- I plan on a few other exciting changes before annoucing the new site. But please, enjoy, and let me know if you have any thoughts. Arigato gozaimasu.

Hello all! The news section is long overdue for an update, since I haven’t dropped off the face of the planet completely; I have traveled far enough to check; the world is indeed round. We’re safe.

Anyway, Bikini Art live-performance has cooled down quite a bit, quite literally in some senses. I now live in a tiny village in the Japanese Alps, so things are, very much in reality, nippy. There is a certain level of respectability that comes with the job, and while the me who loves to prance around Baltimore’s filthy art underground is still very much alive, she is taking a breather in liu of intercultural relations, and teaching lots of little babies—2232 of them in fact. Here’s hoping that all 2232 of them do not have interweb access, or the ability to do a google search on my name. My advisor in Nagano kindly advised me to keep a low profile bikini-wise in Nagano-ken, but I very much have plans to take miss bikini thang to Tokyo in the future, and get her talking in Japanese. Both will take time, one more than the other.

However! Art is still happening. I’m actually enjoying getting away from my own art-world, and living in cultural isolation for the time being. Bikini-Art is, to me, a very complex body of work, that doesn’t always have to be seen in all it’s stages. I’m defiantly in the process of revamping the concept, and allowing it to grow outside the confines of a stage image.

It is with this in mind that I give you a preview of the next issue of the Bikini-Artist comic book series. In this work, I’m attempting to explore the nature of my relationship with both Miss BA, as well as a varied array of locations, both present and historically. It takes the reader from bell-epoch Paris, to Poe’s SoWeBo, Oak Ridge Tennessee, the Bikini Atoll, and modern day Hiroshima. There are atoms, there is autism, and most importantly, there are hot chicks in bikinis. I’m trying to craft a story that explains why the Bikini Artist had to exist, both as a coping mechanism for my poor little starving artist self, as well as the accumulation of a complicated, sordid, and silent history. She’s here for a reason, and if I have to pick apart the dark recesses of art and war to discover it, I will. And I’ll try to take you with me.

Ok, so, that’s enough of me plying you with my crazy ambitions for the evening. Here are some clips from the comic. Enjoy, and thanks for staying with me on this. Japan is awesome. You’re all awesome.

Things are happening faster than I thought. I am registered with the Tokyo Art Index.

8-22-05

Um. So I live in Japan now. Which is kind of amazing, and really difficult. I'm excited to be here, and excited to be taking the project to the next level. I'm working on a larger comic book piece, and also the excruciating task of tranlating everything (ie, performances, comics) into Japanese. I don't expect this to be quick. Sometime soon, expect to see me performing in Tokyo. Thanks!

The Bikini Artist will be appearing

Monday, June 13th, 9:00pm @ Copy Cat Building, 1511 Guilford Ave
(Baltimore. duh.) FREE.

I wish I had more info about the other BANDS playing and the like, but
this is sorta last minute, and I don't. Sorry. HOWEVER, DUDES, if'n you
wanna see ANY bikini artist shows before July, 2006, you should start
attending them! As of August 1st, I will be LIVING in motha-effin' Japan
for a year.
While i do intend to continue working with little miss
bikini-me, it will require one hell of a commute for YOU, my loyal
auidence. So, come one out! There will be at least 3 more shows after
this one, before I toddle off into the rising sun. Including a guest
hosting fashing-show appearance JULY 30 at the Sidebar; this event will
be a charity fundraiser, with lots of awesome music and free pabst
(which is almost redundant to say, thanks to Miss Rachel Warren who is
organizing said event.) MORE ON THAT LATER.

So, after a year of bikini artistry, I have written a little piece that explains the current state of the project in a (hopefully) clearer way. I'd love responses, and for this bit of writing to jump-start a dialogue with my viewers. Without further ado;

Regrouping; the location of art-making, and a redefinition of Bikini Art*

Thanks!

*you can get to the bikini artist diary by clicking the "dialogues" link on the pain palette!

Yes, so, last minute means last minute. It also means that the poster is not as sweet as usual.

The lecture at MICA today was great fun; thanks to all the cats there. It's nice to be able to speak to fellow artists about my work. Also many thanks to Kevin for making it happen!

Sooooo, YES, I WILL be at the Cabaret tomorrow. So will you?

ps; if you were trying to decide which show to come to... come on the 31st. Really.

3-24-05

Woah.

Remember; there is only ONE Bikini Artist. Do not accept imitations.

3-20-05

Hi guys! I'm totally exhausted. Last night's Cabaret show on Dadaism was the best yet. I encourage you all to get your butts out, come learn about art; not just as taught by yours truly, but also the many other WONDERFUL artists who come out EVERY SATURDAY. This past year has been a bombardment of talent for me, and I want everyone else to know how many amazing artists are quietly getting their work done in Baltimore. I am personally more and more wowed every progressive weekend. Imagine what it'll be like in a month!

THE NEXT APPEARANCE

NOTES;

While the Bikini Artist is not performing at the Hole in the Wall Cabaret this coming weekend, a very good buddy of mine is. He goes by the name of Aleks Martray, and he is an incredible musician. If'n you don't have anything else to do... come give him a listen.

And also; the reason for the season, so to speak; the Cabaret started as a fundraiser organization for artists to pay for other art projects... (Shock and amaze)

Specifically

An Old Cracked Tune

1-30-05

Wow. Just wow. I knew 2005 was going to take use places, but I didn’t expect this level of velocity or enthusiasm. I’m proud to say that January has given rise to the largest number of visitors since the advent of the website. The interest in linkage, networking, and in participation with the Baltimore Cabaret has skyrocketed. Thanks guys. Thanks a ton. It’s a constant worry if I’m totally wasting my time with this art stuff, and the more I stick myself out there, the more receptive the world is to this shit.

Business matters. If you need to contact the cabaret--like, you’re a musician, an actor, a writer (if you paint in a bikini PISS OFF, ‘cause they already got one.) You can contact Miss Lucia HERE. If you have already spoken to her, or you just want to register formally, go HERE, and give ‘em low-down. For your enjoyment, and also to show off how awesome she is, here’s the Baltimore Sun article.

I would like to encourage you all AGAIN to check out the new “Dialogues” section of the site. Respond, if you like. I’m going to announce that Miss Catherine Robinson is hard at work creating a Bikini Artist coloring book, which will make its first appearance at the Baltimore Cabaret, Feb. 19 th. (Part of me posting this is so she will really finish it in time!) After completion of this, she and I are bounding off into the unknown world of collaboration, which will hopefully result in a Bikini Artist COMIC BOOK (sweet!) and also more narrative work at the cabaret.

Thank you!

1-21-05

So, more low down on the baltimore cabaret.

The Bikini Artist has been invited to perfrom, and is very excited.

1-8-05

Happy New year! 2005 is The Year of the Bikini Artist!!!!

My mom and little brother sure love their Bikini Artist Merchandise!

Videos now available; I'd actually like money ($10) but i'm willing to work something out if thats a huge problem and you can't live without it (I can't blame you)

Keep checking in; there are some very exciting events on the horizon, including the beginings of some experimental Bikini Artist narrative work. Thanks for everyone's support.

11-8-04

Happy Holidays! Check out the Photo Section-- neat artsy photos of the Mojo show.

And Hey! Here's a thought! Wouldn't A Bikini Artist Dog shirt be a great present for Mistor Doggie!?! Or maybe a Beer Stein for Dad! Or, for the little lady in your life, the classic Art Thong. These old favorites, as well as some BRAND SPANKING NEW Merchandise selections. Take the hint, check it out for holiday ideas!

11-8-04

The Mojo Show was really great; thanks everyone. Here's a link to the niffty poster that The Things told me about. Thanks guys!

10-30-04

Happy Halloween, guys! Another month of old fashioned bikini artist fun.

Another live appearance, on November 6th, at the MOJO lounge!

And if anyone wants to see the City Paper photo, here you go!

By the by, check out the photo section of the site, see all the way hot pin-ups Chris took of little Miss Bikini Girl!

I finally got the link section up and running, so click away.

This is a very brief update, as I am sure you can see. The end. By me.

9-17-04

So! One month later. The Bikini Artist Project has developed into a much more experimental piece for me; I am right now concentrating on the media parasite aspect of the work, allowing the identity of Miss B.A. to "used" in different media contexts. A recap;

TOMORROW, Saturday 18th, at the MOJO lounge, the bikini artist will be
give a live performance and art show. Everyone is welcome, come out,
party, play, and of course catch Dark Water Transit and King Norris,
featuring Fred Norris of the Howard Stern show.

IN other NEWS; the hamdenfest thing is up in the air because
UNORGANIZED EVENT plus RAIN equals.. ? so, i really won't know if'n
i'm gonna be there, if it will be there, or if i'm gonna just f-in'
guerilla warfare it. cool? cool.

CITY PAPER?...you ask? well, yes, you're favorite little bikini artist
will DEFINATLY be gracing every street corner in baltimore in next
week's "best of said city" paper. Hopefully, this pin-up add will create

a new dimension to the character, and maybe even sell some cookies. right.

So! Doma arigato again! I'll keep everyone in the know, and i'm hoping that soon i can make some definitive statements about the direction of the project and it's auidence.

8-18-04

Hello All! I'll start this note by thanking everyone for checking out
the web site and letting me know what you thought; I'm really proud,
and thrilled that everyone is so enthusiastic. Again, thanks!

More on topic; live performances/exhibits! It's last minute, but I
will be appearing at Gullifty's Underground
1004 Carlisle Rd. Cedar Cliff Mall, Camp Hill, PA 17011 THIS FRIDAY
the 20th of August. I know, I know, short notice, but whatever, I'm
always ready to go.

Anyway, this gig is thanks to the loverly fella' of Dark Water
Transit, who bytheby, can rock your face that night, as well as any
time you happen upon them. i say; check them (Dark Water Transit)out,
as well as ME(The Bikini Artist Project) on Myspace.com. Ahem.

AND WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO SPARE, the Bikini Artist will be appearing
at Hamdenfest this September 18th (Saturday). This is a free event.

Hamdenfest is in Hamden. duh.

I encourage everyone to spread the word, spread the love, spread the
news. I'm impressed by the word of mouth action going on here (Monday
night i was recognized in a bar by some chick from DC... "Hey, are you
that bikini painter?"..."uh... yes?")So... AWSOME. THANKS.

AND in case you haven't noticed; the site now sports some really
ridiculous Merchandise, that you should buy, cause you KNOW YOU WANT
TO. And everybody should refresh the main page a couple of times,
cause' the picture changes at random, a new feature I find completely
entertaining.

Arigato, minna.

Love
Miss Bikini Artist

7-25-04

So, website actually happening. Isn't it hidious? So far, there are working links (holy shit!), a fabulous photo gallery, some really exciting and silly merchandise. Thanks to everyone who turned out for the ChiarOscuro show, (I can't believe it was almost a month ago!) it was so much fun. I hope there will be many more like it. More live appearances and exhibitions in the works, stay tuned!

Love,
Emmy
